Good afternoon Allendale County Community of Learners:
In light of the recent incident at last Friday’s football game involving students from our school, we are implementing a soft lockdown protocol throughout this week as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff.
This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution. However, to prevent further conflicts and ensure a calm and structured environment, the following measures will be in place.
1. Limited Building Access:
Only designated entrances will be used for entry and exit, and all other doors will remain locked during the school. Visitors are not allowed in the building without a pre scheduled appointment. There will be no early student sign outs on tomorrow.
2. Increased Supervision:
Additional staff will be monitoring hallways, common areas, and transition times to ensure student safety.
3. Staggered Schedules: To minimize student interaction between different grade levels, we will implement staggered schedules for classroom transitions and lunch periods.
4. Classroom security: Hallway passes will be limited to reduce unnecessary student movement.
Thanks for your cooperation as we continue to make safety and security for all a priority.
Parents please talk to your children so they understand the importance of following our new rules. We appreciate your cooperation, without it we cannot be successful. We must work together to stop this issue.

I am deeply saddened and disappointed by the violent incident that occurred at tonight’s football game. The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community are our top priorities. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will conduct a thorough investigation into the events. Every person involved will be charged to the full extent of the law. This violence must stop and it will not be tolerated on school grounds. We urge everyone to come together in support of peace and respect. We are better than this and must do better as a community. Further measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of our school events moving forward. Thanks to the Allendale County Sheriff's Department and all other law enforcement for their immediate response in helping us resolve this issue. We appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time. Sincerely, Superintendent Dr. Vallerie Cave
