During the latter part of the presentation, the middle school students got to see first hand what being a JROTC cadet is like. There were stations where they practiced drill routines, learned the creed, folded the flag, and completed physical training. At the end, there was a Q&A segment and exceptional students were recognized for their participation and performance.

Today the AFHS JROTC hosted middle school students for recruitment. The cadets shared their experience with the program and even performed a drill routine which intrigued the students.

Join us on April 30th at 9:30 AM in the AFHS Multipurpose Room for a JROTC ceremony. There will be awards, change of command, and promotion.

Tomorrow we will meet the new JROTC cadets at the Annual AFHS Recruitment Ceremony. The event will start at 10:00 AM and will be held in the AFHS gym.

Also, Ms. Patterson and Ms. Simmons honored members and facilitators of their Parenting Partners group including Wanda Calhoun, April Hightower, Jayla Nelson, and Farrah Maner. This group is meant to bridge the gap between school and home, and we hope to recruit more parents soon!

The AFHS Bow Tie Club attended the Men of Color Summit in Greenville. This event is sponsored by Clemson University and promotes service, leadership, and academics. The highlight of the weekend was the keynote address given by the notable Kenny Smith, a former NBA player and current sports analyst.

The rising 6th graders visited Allendale-Fairfax Middle School, where they were welcomed by Principal Dr. Dandy, staff, and students. The students were able to ask questions about the school, complete a student-led tour, and meet teachers and staff. They were engaged with a scavenger hunt and Kahoot game, and left feeling more prepared for the transition to the middle school.

Today the Ministers in Action came to Allendale-Fairfax High School to talk with students and Superintendent Dr. Cave. With each visit, they are building bonds and strengthening relationships with our scholars.

Parents and families, we are excited to announce that we will be having our Summer Learning Program from Monday, June 10th through Friday, June 28th. Registration opens on Monday, April 15th and will close on Wednesday, May 15th. No registrations will be accepted after this date, so please register before the window closes!

We would like to thank the community for their input on our calendar survey. Approximately 70% of votes were in favor of option one. The modified school calendar focuses on student readiness for learning and gives additional time to focus on their strengths, passions, and mental health. It provides an opportunity for students to recover learning and teachers to recharge during intercession breaks. We look forward to great success during the 2024-2025 school year as we continue the implementation of the modified calendar.

Tomorrow at 9:00 AM the Allendale-Fairfax Middle School will be hosting the rising 6th graders. There will be a walking tour and panel discussion to make the transition from elementary to middle school easier for our scholars.
